Cameras at the ready.
We’ve just discovered this rather epic street painting by artist Mark Wenner. This particular one is located at the Hai’an Culture Industry Theme Park in Nantong City, which still isn’t finished, but that hasn’t stopped the crowds coming to marvel at the illusion. The Park, once completed will be a distribution centre of goods and materials of local culture industry. It reminds me of a giant Crevasse  by street artists Joe Hill and Max Lowry which appeared on the tow path by Regent’s Canal last Summer. A fantastic commissioning by British Waterways as part of their ‘Two tinges’ campaign, they wanted to find a way to slow down careless bikers by the canal.

and HH designed it! Yesterday after a fast turnaround from initial concept to build we got the first of the new Meteor stores opened. Meteor are a mobile phone network in The Republic of Ireland and this particular store is in the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre. As well as introducing new features like the ‘Try Bar’ in the centre of the store for consumers to get involved with the latest live product we introduced a new wall system which incorporates media screens, easy read Top 5 Smart Phone bays and a general uplifting amount of ORANGE!!!! One of the nicest surprises was that everyone who shopped and worked there just looked so healthy. Get an instant happy tan at Meteor ‘The Healthy Option’

On one of my small ad-libbed walk arounds of the centre I counted Meteor with 24 consumers in store to Carphone Warehouse’s 16, Vodafone’s 2 and Three Store’s 0….a very good start.

Thanks to John Anslow and Denise Doyle at Meteor, Dave, Sally and Eric at Brand Pie and all at HH who jumped in and got stuck in.

It is part of the Favela Painting project by Hass&Hahn, who are Joen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn, their dream is to one day paint an entire favela, giving the neighbourhood empowerment and pride. The project’s aim is to transform communities into landmarks and inspirational monuments like the statue of Christ the Redeemer on Sugar Loaf Mountain. The work is being painted by 25 local youths who have been trained as painter, providing them with employment, income and and a new sense of responsibility.Artist Dre Urhahn, who helped to conceive the project says that the work can “make colourful difference in the lives of local individuals, the community and the city of Rio. It has the potential of working as a catalyst in the process of social renewal and change.”

They took over the last Polaroid production plant in Enschede in the Netherlands to save the Polaroid from extinction, using the existing machinery at the plant, finding new solutions and replacing outdated and unavailable components. They have successfully scaled down and condensed the production process and Impossible are now on track for the production of 1 million films in the first year. They have re-invented instant films for each of the different camera models in over 20 new varieties with unique characteristics for creating new stunning effects.

Impossible stores are popping up all over the world in Berlin, Barcelona, London, Vienna and the latest Impossible Project Space on Broadway, New York, celebrating the magic and the bright future that analog Instant Photography is now facing. With an exhibition of The Impossible Collection (a follow on from the world famous Polaroid Collection) displaying the experimental work of international photographers and artists using the Impossible films, revealing their potential.
